Tasting Notes: In a year of incredible rye single barrels this stands out as the most unique. The nose would never indicate its age, presenting any oak notes in such a sugary and candied package. Juicy lemon-lime stands out above all, but there is a very soft candied herbal underneath it.
The oak comes out a bit more on the palate, but it still leads with a refreshing lemon-lime candy sweetness and any herbal or spice is an afterthought. Juicy and creamy.
The finish is softly candied and well-oaked, medium-short in length and combined with the flavor on the palate and its proof just begs you to keep going in for more. The long linger begins to reveal fresh fig and date-like sweetness as well. I’ve never had a rye quite like this.
